Actually, about half my friends list is computer geeks, and the other half is language geeks.
You fit in the language geeks file, of course.
Very few cross over to both, but, there are a few, such as

pne,

phrench_phried, and...
there's probably another one...maybe...
Most are one or the other...

I keep trying to tell my husband that he knows so many computer languages, that surely it should be easy for him to learn a second human language. He scoffs, but if he goes back for his bachelor's he is going to have to at least try :).

I kind of look at human language, math, and computer language as all being related.
First of all, the are all human created, and, second, they are means of expressing. manipulating, or describing a perception of reality.

So far I've only responded to the geek posts, pero también hablo español (no perfectamente) y lo que estudié antes de las computadoras era la lingüística. Por eso, no diría que solamente enfoco en el "geekdom". :)

See that's what I was saying...
Geeks are often multilingual, first of all, and learning different "human" languages and different computer languages are practically the same thing...sort of.
Like I translate Spanish to English, and now, Perl to Tcl!

Yeah...that probably has something to do with it.
Most people aren't tied to their desks 24/7/52...
My industry doesn't stop for US holidays, since I have clients around the globe.
I did take time out to hang out with my daughter every day over the past few days, but, have also been here translating and hacking, a lot.

That makes sense.

I often read others, perusing through, and think, "When I have a minute, I'm going to come back here and comment on that...but not right now...I'm too busy to thoroughly respond..."
And then, of course, never get back and respond...
